TEAM SELECTION GAUTENG TEAM SELECTION Teams will be selected according to the guidelines set out in the Constitution. A and B teams may be chosen should the standard warrant this. The selectors should include in their teams, only those paddlers who, based on trials, the selectors feel are of sufficiently high standard to warrant selection and who would perform well enough at the event for which they have been selected. The Gauteng Canoe Union will no longer assist every team member with a traveling allowance but will instead assist in the form of a Performance Bonus based on how they finish at the event on the condition that they were selected as part of the Gauteng Team. Performance Bonuses For someone to receive the Performance Bonus, they need to finish within 5% of the winners time, for seniors or 10% of the winning time for the rest of the age groups at River Championship races and finish 1 st , 2 nd or 3 rd at Sprint and Marathon events in their age category. Team points, 4 for A team and 2 for B team will still apply. Criteria for the Performance Bonus The bonus will be paid to those paddlers finishing in the top three place of their age category. There need to be: 3 paddlers to award a first place 5 paddlers to award a second place 8 paddlers to award a third place
Subject to the funds being available the payment will be as follows:
R600 for first place K1 or K2 paddlers R400 for second place K1 or K2 paddlers R200 for third place K1 or K2 paddlers
Should funds be available, paddlers to the World Championship events overseas will also benefit from this incentive scheme. These amounts will be up for review by the Management Committee on a regular basis.
