Dear Jennie!                                                                                                          1 July 2016

With the Cape paddling season in full swing, it is time to take out that diary, choose your favourite pen and highlighter, and block off the weekend of

Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 September for the 2016 Breede!

Its Normalising!
It’s been a crazy year of dry weather and low rivers, but thankfully the Ever-reliable Cape winter rains have started arriving and the water table and river levels have started returning to normal! By the time the K2 season kicksoff in earnest after the Berg Marathon, we should be enjoying classic water once again in the Breede valley.

SA K3 Champs!
We learn last year that the Breede is great K3 racing – at any level! It will be our honour to host the SA K3 Champs on the Breede this year, and we anticipate a hefty influx of these big craft from around the country.

But let’s never forget that the Breede is, at it’s core, a classic K2 race. The main Breede title will as always be decided by K2s, and the K3 and K2 racing will structured in such a way that both enjoy the full benefit of the river on raceday without interfering with each other!

Website
The Breede website has become a core source of information about the race, and the river, especially for the novices who soak up info from the diagrams ands videos. The river levels are all live, read just above the Day One start in Robertson – you can see that we have already had a blob of over 500 cumecs charging down the river this month!

Keep an eye on the website, as this will be updated on a regular basis in the coming week.

We anticipate that entries will open shortly after the Berg, with normal entries closing late in August
