Hi Everyone,

I hope everyone is enjoying their winter break and are looking forward to the season ahead as much as I am. The canoe polo committee has been hard at work planning the events for the new season. Below is what we have in store for everyone this season.

Reffing courses: We will be hosting a reffing course in August and again in March next year. This course is geared towards introducing the rules to players and parents. Everyone is encouraged to do this course, its not as boring as you think.

Schools League: We will be working together with the schools league this season to host two canoe polo tournaments as well as introduce flat water slalom at some of the school league events.

Gauteng team trials: The calendar is very busy between January – March, we will therefore be having our Gauteng team trials in October 2017 for all teams. This will also give us extra time for the teams to train together for longer. We will have the U16 and Ladies on the Saturday and the Men and U21 Men on the Sunday.

Dabs and ERK will each host a tournament throughout the season, these tournaments will be open to paddlers from beginners to advanced.

SA Champs: This will be hosted in Knysna this year. we are hoping to send as many teams as possible.

We are also working on starting up a club at VLC this season which is very exciting as well as helping out with the guys at NWU with developing there.

23 September 2017 – Schools League Canoe Polo Tournament – Dabulamanzi Canoe Club
1 October 2017 – Schools League including slalom event – East Rand Kayak
7 October 2017 – Gauteng Team Trials – U16 and Ladies – East Rand Kayak
8 October 2017 – Gauteng Team Trials – Men and U21 Men – East Rand Kayak
5 November 2017 – Schools League including slalom event – East Rand Kayak
26 November 2017 – Dabs 4vs4 Tournament – Dabulamanzi Canoe Club
13 January 2018 – Schools League Canoe Polo Tournament – East Rand Kayak
3 February 2018 – Vikings Cup – East Rand Kayak
10 March 2018 – Reffing Course – East Rand Kayak
31-1 April 2018 – SA Champs – Knysna
