DABULAMANZI CANOE CLUB & OTHER CLUBS WELCOME
>
> WILGE WEEKEND – Sat 21st and 22nd March 2015 – AIMED @ NEW & SOCIAL paddlers but all welcome including families and friends !
>
> WILGE is a beautiful camping and caravanning site set along the Wilge River with a view of a beautiful range of mountains in the most awesome setting. It is approx 22 km’s outside Bronkhorstspruit!
> This is not only for paddlers – you can bring your mountain bikes and cycle or tubes to float down the river and just relax. There is also hiking and a swimming pool so while the paddlers are going down the river, the rest of the family can relax and enjoy!
>
> We will be taking the DABS boat trailer so you are welcome to load your boats on the trailer for a small fee to cover the petrol costs. We will meet @ the boats racks @ DABS @ 06h00 on Sat morning and travel in convoy. If you would prefer to go directly out to WILGE, you’ll need to be there by 10h00 latest. At approx 10.30 am we will do the river proficiencies and then trip the river. (There is a 6km & a 16km route). Please bring your own lunch on Sat and bring meat for a braai on sat night and breakfast for sun morning as well as any drinks or snacks you desire! There are NO SHOPS in the area!
> For those not keen on camping, there is chalet accommodation in the area if need be! Please email Debbie for further info!
>
> For the river you will need a BOAT, splash cover, life jacket, paddle and fuel savers with tie downs.
> Please speak to JASON BROWN (076 112 0402) should you have any queries regarding flat water proficiency or river proficiencies. You need to have completed your Flat Water Proficiency in order to be allowed to do the River Proficiency at Wilge.
>
>
> “If river levels are not sufficiently testing, we will still trip but Proficiencies might not be issued.
> A follow-up trip will be done following the weekend at Wilge, either on Klip or Highveld Croc. To ensure that paddlers have attained sufficient experience to warrant being awarded river proficiency. ”
