GCU \| RACE DIRECTIONS EMERALD CASINO RESORT HIGHVELD CROC RACES Directions to Friday's Farm Bridge: Take the R512 which goes past the Lanseria Airport. (For those using the highway, take the Lanseria Turnoff onto the R512.) Continue along the R512 past the airport (RHS) and the 'Home of The Chicken Pie' (LHS). A KM or two past the 'Home of The Chicken Pie' is the Rhenosterspruit Garage (LHS). Look out for the Blue Canoe (K1) on the RHS near the Rhino Lodge sign board which marks the turnoff. Turn Right onto the sand road. Follow the 'Crocs Race' sign boards to Friday's Farm Bridge (i.e. the start). Directions to Paddle Power: Take the R512 as as above, but don't take the sand road turn off. Continue along the R512 to the T-Junction. At T-Junction, cross diagonally over the tar road to the right. The entrance to Paddle Power will be in front of you (i.e. to the right of the vegetable shop). Look out for the Paddle Power sign board. KLIP RIVER RACES ANDRE'S FARM (DALESIDE) Take R 59 to Vereeniging. Take the off ramp after the blockhouse. Turn left and drive over the railway line to the T-junction. At T-junction turn right and a short distance (4-500m) to stop street. At stop street turn left. Turn into property on right-hand bank of the river just before crossing river. HENLEY SCOUT HALL Take R 59 to Vereeniging. Take the Henley off ramp after the blockhouse. Turn left towards Henley At second Stop turn RIGHT into Ewelme Road past shops on Left At STOP Street turn LEFT into IFFLEY Road to cross Klip river bridge At STOP Street turn RIGHT into HEARN Rd and follow all the way down till it turns sharp LEFT - the Scout hall is just before it turns on the RIGHT KLIP PIPES TO EVERITE Travel on the Vereeniging highway. Take the Heidelberg Road off ramp. Turn right and proceed over the highway till you reach an intersection. Turn right and follow the road for about 1.5km and at the first road you are able to, turn right into the “cattle farm” and drive down to the river. To the finish Follow the same road back towards the highway. Cross over the highway to the 4 way stop. Cross over the stop street and the bridge. Turn right at the shops and follow the road to the river keeping right. HENLEY WEIR Take the Vereeniging highway. Pass “Blockhouse” and take the 2nd offramp at Henley Drive. At the top turn left. Cross the bridge and turn right at the 2nd stop street. (yellow building on your right) Straight at the next stop street at the shops. After about 2km and some speed bumps, turn left at the Retirement Village (palisade fencing on a low wall) and a Karate sign. Drive down to the weir. SPORTS GROUND Travel on the Vereeniging highway, past “Blockhouse” and take the Johan LeRoux / Evaton offramp. (4th since Blockhouse) Turn left, go through all the stop streets till you reach the T junction. Turn right, proceed for about 500m and just past the road to the left, you will see a triangular type post that says Meyerton Rugby Club. Turn left and follow the road keeping left at the Y and once in the club, turn right and drive down to the river. CARAVAN PARK As for the sports ground but continue along the same road. Pass through two 4 way stop street and you will reach a Y-junction with a garage on your left. Turn left and at the T junction turn left again and drive down to the Caravan park. Entrance fee R15.00 per car. THE RIVER FRONT, TRAIN BRIDGE AND DAVE’S FARM From Meyerton Pass the Sports ground on the left hand side. At the 4 way stop, turn left towards the Vaal Dam. Cross over the Klip and take the first right turn into Donald Rd This is the Three Rivers Rd Train Bridge Straight through the 3 way stop. Pass the intersection to Dave’s farm and just before you cross over the railway line turn right and follow the sand road down to the river. Riverfront Cross over the railway line. Straight over the 3 way stop. At the 3rd robot turn right. (“Something Fishy” and is a double lane road) At the first robot turn left. Cross over the 4 way stop. Turn right into the Riverfront. Dave’s Farm Straight through the 3 way stop and at the next intersection turn right into Sauer Rd. First right into Jessie and follow the road down towards the river. Dave’s farm is on the right hand side. VAAL RIVER BARRAGE, VANBO, SMILING THRU AND LIKKEWAAN CANOE CLUB Travel on the concrete highway to Bloemfontein. Pass through Grasmere Toll Plaza. Take the Parys / Sasolburg turnoff (R42) Tractor cab and car on top of poles on the left. At the top turn right over the highway. Watch for the sign for BARRAGE (8km) and turn left. Travel on the sand road until it becomes tar. Cross over the stop street until you reach a T junction. Turn right, 50m on turn left into the parking. Go all the way back to the main road and turn left. You will get to a fork type intersection and turn left to Lindeques Drift. Watch for the sign on your left to VANBO and turn left onto a dirt road (Die Drif Café) on the right hand side. VANBO is about 3km down on the left hand side. Come out of the parking, turn right and head back to the main rd. Turn left and follow the road till you reach a T junction. Turn left towards Parys. After about 8km, SMILING THRU is on your left clearly marked on a concrete pillar. Proceed through the boom and travel down the sand road until you reach a sign for the Conference Centre. Turn left and once you reach the centre turn right towards the river. Proceed back out of the main gate. Turn left towards Parys. Follow the road until you cross over the Vaal River. At the first robot turn left. Follow the road through town keeping left at the fork. LIKKEWAAN CANOE CLUB is about 2km out of town on your left. Watch out for the sign as it is set far back off the road. (If you cross over a bridge you have gone too far.) To get from Likkewaan Canoe Club back to the JHB Highway. When you come out of the club turn left. Follow the road all the way until you reach the N1. Turn left onto the highway to JHB.	WINSOME VALLEY Proceed along Hans strydom cross the M14/ R28 to the Stop street at lanseria Straight on to house of chicken pie on left hand side of road. Continue straight. Past Friday farm sand road on right about 700m from house of chicken pie 4.4 km from house of chicken pie you will go over a small bridge From the bridge to the winsome valley turn off is 1.7 km it is all uphill from the bridge. The turnoff is to the right and on a bend as you get to the top of the rise so please be careful you might miss it and people do tend to speed on that narrow road. From house of chicken pie it is 5.7 km to the winsome valley turnoff. Follow the sand road through two security cattle booms and go right to the bottom of the sand road Turn right at the excuse for a gate, the road split; go right 20 meters further it splits again go left at the split. We are talking about two tracks in the grass You are about 500m from the river We are starting from a private game reserve and bad behavior by one will spoil it for all of us for the new paddlers the residents and canoeist have a checkered past and we are busy doing very hard work at the croc canoe club to foster a good relationship with them. VAAL DAM WALL From Meyerton Pass the sports ground. At the 4 way stop turn left towards the Vaal Dam. Proceed along this road for a while until you reach the first biggish intersection. Turn right. ( old bike race track on your left ) At the stop street go straight across and at the T junction turn left. Follow the road until you see the Vaal Dam in front of you to the right. Turn right to the dam wall. Follow the road and once you cross over the Vaal River take the first left towards Deneysville. After 20m turn left at the garage and follow the road into the Rand Water premises LIEBENBERGSVLEI From JHB. Villiers(N3), Frankfort(R26) -> Tweeling -> Reitz-> Bethlehem In Bethlehem, pass new CTM, Wimpy. Turn RIGHT (westwards) towards CBD into one way street (Kerkstraat) Pass sandstone church on square, ABSA Bank. TURN RIGHT Turn at KFC (Commissioner Street) (Towards Lindley R56) After about 1.5 km cross railway bridge. TURN RIGHT at T-junction Turn RIGHT towards Lindley/Kroonstad (R56) After about 3 km, find sign KLEINGRAANINSTITUUT, TURN RIGHT (route will be signposted from here) Go on for about 5 km, PASS main sandstone wall entrance of ARC Institute After about 1km , TURN RIGHT into crop fields and follow signs. TIME TO TRAVEL FROM EASTGATE in JHB, ABOUT 2.5 HOURS. (270 km) ROODEPLAAT DAM – PRETORIA CANOE CLUB Take the Pretoria highway and branch off to Pietersburg. Travel along this highway until you reach the Zambesi offramp. Turn off and go through the tollgate. At the T junction robot, turn right. Go under the highway and through the next robot of the onramp. At the next robot turn left. (Roodeplaat North) This is the road to MOLOTO. Travel about 8km and the entrance to Roodeplaat Dam will be on your right hand side. Proceed through the gate and just before the dam take the road to the right. You will come to the club house on your right hand side. HOMESTEAD DAM – EKURHULENI KAYAK CLUB From Johannesburg traveling towards the airport. When you reach the split for Benoni and JHB International Airport Keep right towards Benoni. Pass the runway on your left. Take the Atlas road off ramp. At the robot turn left. First robot right. After about 50m you will reach a gate that has closed off the road. Turn right at this intersection and follow the road until you reach the club. BLESBOK RIVER From JHB take the highway to Durban. Take the Nigel turnoff. At the top turn left. After 13km turn right at the robot into Rhodes Ave. After 200m turn right into Milner at the 4 way stop. After 1km turn left into Chamberlain at the 3 way stop. Go around the traffic circle 270 degrees and turn left behind the sports stadium. Follow the dirt road to the start. From EAST RAND take the N17 past Carnival City towards Secunda. At the 2nd Springs turnoff (Wit Rd) turn left to Nigel. After 20km (past the golf course on the right) turn left into Rhodes Ave. Follow as above. Blesbok River Finish Follow the directions back to the Durban highway. Cross over the highway and go straight into Heidelberg. Travel straight through town and the 2nd last street turn left at the SPUR. Go straight through the traffic circle and cross over the Blesbok. Turn left and park next to the river. WATUNI CANOE CLUB From JHB and PRETORIA take the R59 to Vereeniging. Take Vanderbijlpark (R42) turnoff. Turn left at the first robot at the Pick n Pay into Ascot-on-Vaal Rd. Cross over 2x 4 way stops. Turn right into Hendrik van Eck Boulevard. (Emerald Casino sign) Entrance into the University is 700m on the left. Pass through the boom and follow the canoe signs. VICTORIA LAKE CANOE CLUB Take the N3 Germiston Geldenhys interchange take M2 east Germiston until T junction Turn right onto Refinery street continue until you see lake on right-hand side Look out for Victoria Lake Club entrance
