Check the wind. Every indication of a great beach day with a pumping downwind and big shore break.

DRESS CODE
Dress for the beach. Baggies, bikinis, hats, slops, blockout,
chairs.Colourfull! Paddlers in cycle kit start in the second row.
CELEBRITIES
Hank McGregor…..multiple world champ who has won every major surf or river or marathon race in SA….and most in the world! Haley Nixon …world surf ski champ and leading lady paddler in SA and the
world – Gerhard Moolman …paddled from Cape Town to Somalia! (Don’t ask)
ENTRIES AND REGISTRATION
Surprise surprise! Not many paddlers pre-enter.
We expect about 100 craft and 130 paddlers so the process will be slow.

Registration and entries opens at 1pm.
Come early, queue, get numbers to place on RHS of your surf ski,collect a tube of PLUSSSZ,

Sign the indemnity. That will be your entry into the lucky draw for a FENN

The GAUTENG NAVY will be well represented at SA CHAMPS in Durban ( 9,10 May)
The NAVY will also be at Pete Marlin in EAST LONDON the first weekend of
November

READY TO RACE
After the clinic, which will end about 2.45pm, get your surf ski or sit-on
-top or SUP.
Put the ADREACH numbers on the RHS
CRAFT
Only sit-on-top and SUPs. This is an open ocean race!
There are always paddlers who want to race but don’t have a surf ski.
Please try to organise for yourself.
PLEASE…..If you have a spare craft try to lend it to a friend.
It is always best for the lender and borrower to make arrangements together.
If you have a spare surf ski and no friends please contact Joe Torlage

If you want to borrow a surf ski (and have no friends) also contact Joe.
Please try find a friend. Joe will only start allocating on 12 March. Apply by 8 March.
THINK SAFETY
There will be a separate instruction about safety.
START

Get through the shore break asap so that others can launch
Please do not jump the start
The start is against the harbour wall
10 km downwind
Big surf predicted
RACE
Ten laps round all the buoys including the three at the top
SUPs and broad slow surf skis do seven laps.
Please at least stay paddling until the race has been won…under 45mins.
If you paddle 45mins and stop without completing the full distance you will
count as an official finisher but will not be given a position. Don’t
paddle through the finish gate/buoys as this confuse the time keepers.
FINISH
on your last lap paddle between the finish markers/buoys/gate and the timekeepers on the bank
Please only on your last lap otherwise the timekeepers battle
Negotiate the surf and beach your craft. Make space.
Grab a refreshing Plusssz drink
Grab a cocktail…..Thank you MACE (aka Kelvin)
RELAX. You have conquered your fear until next year.
Chill on the beach for a bit then move to the club house
FUN ON THE BEACH
Please stay well clear of the motorboats and tow vehicles
