With recent regular rains the Klip river is a super level, however as always floating trees are a potential hazard and we will be posting on Facebook/Gautengcanoeunion whenever there is something to be aware of / take care and avoid problems.
These situations change frequently during the heavy rain season so please keep updated before tripping the river.
AND REMEMBER…..PORTAGING IS GOOD DUSI PRACTICE AND OFTEN THE SAFER OPTION!!
Daleside Weir – Tree branches are blocking the main line, after the left shute, the normally bony right line would probably be best at this level
Greens Bridge – Blocked portage left
Mine Rapid – Tree branch across the bottom LEFT LINE / Right line is open
Saloojees bridge – There is a tight small gap on FAR left under the bridge, and it is potentially very difficult at high level – RECOMMEND PORTAGE:
1. On River Right, above the huge tree just before the bridge, and go over the road above, and down to the river below.
2. On River LEFT high up before the current catches you, portage on left bank to fallen tree, balance the boat on the tree, climb over the trunk and put in on the other side – CAUTION / CARE
Broken Weir – on the approach there is a tree down on left side, CAN pass on far right – open
