SASOL DAM TO DAM – SATURDAY 15 JULY – AT 9AM – TRICHARDT
The Sasol Canoe Club will host a race / official trip on the Trichardt River on Saturday 15 July 2017 starting at 09h00am. The 18km race will start on Trichardtsfontein dam; continue down Trichardt River before finishing further down on Tweedraai dam.
The race/ trip is hosted close to town, so walking out from the river is easy enough.
Shops are close by for supplies, if needed.
Due to circumstances, we can only ensure the river is open for safe paddling on this scheduled day. Marshals will be positioned at strategic obstacles only. Eg. Bethal Bridge dropout.
Paddlers need to make sure they arrange their own seconds, water, snacks for after the trip, etc ( Crawdaddys is also next to the river halfway down).
When entering the end point at the farm gate, there will be farm kids operating the gate. If you are so inclined to give them something, we encourage you to rather bring a toy/ A4 exercise books &pens / stationary/ old bicycle, old clothes, or something to make a farm kids day happy.

Directions to start from Jhb:
It’s about an hour and a half’s drive (+-150km) from JHB via the N17, follow the road signs to Trichardt/ Bethal . The start is from the HSC yacht club at Trichardtsfontein dam, just past the town.
1) Take the N17 from Jhb, continue till just past/outside Trichardt, heading towards Bethal.
2) 1. km past Trichardt turnoff, then take right turn towards Charl Cilliers. (Marker)
4) Go straight, continue onto the gravel road. (Marker)…over bridge( checkout the flow and weir) , continue further
5) The entry to the yacht club/camping area is about 2 km further on the left. (Marker)
