The next Marathon event in the Sports4life series takes place on the 21/22nd April.
It will be the K1 event on Sat the 21st and K2’s on Sun the 22nd.
BUT…..I have decided to add a bit of a fun component and also to help those who will
paddle both the K1 and K2 events. So for the first time I am inviting entrants to a ” sleep over”.
Bring your tents ,security will be provided, then there is no longer a need to go home and come back
on the Sunday.
To add a fun and entertainment component , I have ” signed a DJ ” for the late morning until late
into sat evening…….the JCC Bar will be open and a dance and party atmosphere will prevail in the evening.
I have also added a ” anything that floats ” competition for the Saturday afternoon ,and invite the canoe clubs
to compete against each other , organisations…ie ” Round Table “….. Businesses and schools and families.
Please indicate by email if you want a tent site allocated to you and if you will be wanting to enter the
” Anything that Floats ” competition.
While the floats are being built ,I hope to get a team together to provide basic canoe lessons to those that may be
Interested. A goal of mine is also to use this as an opportunity to promote our sport.
Start time for the marathon events on both days is 8 am with registration from 0700 am.
Please pre- enter by just emailing me your name , age category and partner’s details if paddling K2.
Entry is R50 per adult and R30 for kids.( Payment is on the day) The 6 and 10 km mini marathons are R20 per entry. Do note that the ” mini marathon ” is specifically Included for the new paddler who would love to start getting into racing in the sport .
