SA SCHOOL SPRINT CHAMPIONSHIPS 2016 – FEEDBACK REPORT

The Gauteng juniors proudly competed in the interprovincial interschool annual sprinting competition held at Shongweni dam between the two long weekends on 22, 23 and 24 March achieving some excellent results!

The accumulated points totalled during the course of the 3 days and various distances from 200m to 2000m, were attributed to the schools represented by the paddler with Parys Hoerskool bringing in 3rd place overall in the Senior Boys with 118.5 points,  with Laerskool Parys 2nd in the Senior Co-ed school group with 107.5 points.   Parktown Girls Senior girls school finished 5th on the log with 66 points.

In the Junior School category the results show St Davids finishing top of the log with 276 points in the junior boys school category, while Laerskool Parys led the field in the Co-Ed junior schools with 384 points, followed by Curro Aurora with 106.

In the individual results points listing for Victor and Victrix Ludorum the province is clearly indicated enabling us to identify the young paddlers who achieved so well and top 3 achievers include Under 8’s Luke and Matthew Wilson  (St Davids / Dabs) in 1st and 2nd place, with Ameerah Hank and Bonolo Mohapi, in  1st and 3rd position in Under 10 girls (Auroro Curro / FLCC),  while Theo Dreyer finished 3rd in the Under 10 boys (St Davids/Dabs).  Our junior teams in the Under 12 girls took the top 4 positions being Jo-Ane Prinsloo, Kamilah Hank, Tinyiko Mahwayi and Anja Bornman representing Likkewaan, FLCC, SCARC and Likkewaan,  while Chetintin Minie (Lik) was the winning Under 12 boys finisher, with Finlay Leask taking 3rd podium spot (Dabs).

Moving away from the guppies, Megan Oelofse finished as 1st Under 14 K1 girl, Caroline van der Linde was the top finishing Under 16 girl, (Both from Likkewaan/Parys), while Jonathan Jooste (ACD) was the first finishing Under 16 boy.

Well done to our juniors who were able to participate in the exciting annual highlight for juniors at this highly respected interprovincial competition!
