GAUTENG JUNIORS AT SA SCHOOLS

The annual national sprint regatta took place at Shongweni Dam in KZN.

  • Huge congratulations and thanks to the event organisers for an exceptionally well run regatta.
  • The 2021 regatta was the 26th national sprint champs.
  • The 3 days of sprinting at the SA Schools and SA Sprint Championships was well attended by paddlers from across the country. With most of the age groups having to hold heats, semi finals before competing in finals.
  • There was an abundance of exceptionally close and exciting racing.
  • The event also double as the selection event for the junior and U23 world championships as well as the Olympic Hopes regatta. The teams will be announced in the next few weeks.
  • Special mention of Esti van Tonder from Academy Canoe Club who heads over to the final qualifier for the Tokyo Olympics.
