SPORTS4LIFE – CELEBRATION OF PADDLING – SUNDAY 10 NOVEMBER – WEMMER PAN

CELEBRATION OF PADDLING – SUNDAY 10 NOVEMBER / WEMMER PAN – INFO BELOW:

The “celebration of paddling “ event on Sunday the 10th Nov at JCC, Wemmer Pan creeps ever closer.

I have been encouraged by some enthusiastic support for the event from paddlers.

We will be celebrating our new World Champions and medallists, after their World Championships efforts in China, which finished last Sunday.

I think we won 4 Golds ( World titles) and at least 11 other medals.( Silver and bronze )

No other sport in South Africa has so many World Champions and international medallists, as does marathon canoeing.

We will be hosting a number of canoe marathon events on Sunday the 10th Nov, starting at 8 am. Our schools league paddlers will also be participating

In marathons and in sprints on the day.

Registration will be from 7 am on the 10th.

Race distances will be 4km, 6km, 12km,16km and 21 km.

Entry is via the standard entry portals. R100 for adults and R50 for scholars.

We will also be promoting and hosting an “ Anything that Floats “ competition and will hope to have a resident DJ and music all morning. ( we will close off latest by 3 pm if things really get rocking)

It would be awesome to create a great fun atmosphere and so if the clubs can enter a club “ Anything that Floats “ entry and we all encourage our local businesses and friends to enter,

and our local school sports teams, we could have an amazing day promoting and celebration the awesome sport of canoeing. The “Anything that Floats “ event will need to navigate 1 lap of Wemmer Pan. (2 km )

Entry for the “ Anything that Floats “ competition will be on the day from 7 am and will be R200 per entry. ( 4 folk max per “float”.)

Food stalls will be functioning and a variety of drinks will be available as well.

It would be awesome if  any businesses that you may be connected with could be encouraged to consider coming onto our sponsorship team as it will be a great opportunity for exposure.

Gazebo’s and Tear Drop Banners can be erected, with sale items on display.

SABC TV Sport have been invited as have the Head of Sports for the Gauteng Gov and for the City of Johannesburg.
