KING OF THE BAY
This past weekend was KOTB. It was moved (unplayable surf) from 14 May to yesterday. The crew from Transvaal Navy mostly moved their plans to Durban Downwind. Only Tex and Gary (that I know of) paddled yesterday. Congrats! They won the grand Masters.
Scottburgh2Brighton
This is an iconic race. You have to do it once to advance in the ranks of the Transvaal Navy. Check your arrangements carefully. I have seen no publicity on the race. I believe the date will be flexible over the long weekend of 16, 17, 18 June. This means it is hard to plan but you have a good chance of top notch conditions. DO S2B if you can.
DURBAN DOWNWIND 24 or 25 June
This is worth taking the fleet out of the safe harbour at the whirlpool. The race is specifically for singles but doubles are welcome. It is a world cup event. It is the trial to select the SA team to compete at World Surf Ski Champs in Hong Kong. The race will be run on Saturday or Sunday depending which day has the best conditions. It will be downwind. On the day not used there will be a navy outing at DUC with Geriakskis.
