FLCC KLIP RACE RESULTS -25 AUGUST 2019

RESULTS – BELOW THE PHOTOS!! LET ME HAVE YOUR FEEDBACK/CORRECTIONS/ADVICES AND ASSISTANCE……

FLCC KLIP RACE – SUNDAY 25 AUGUST 2019 – FEEDBACK

With some 40 boats on the water including marshalls, there was a festive atmosphere in the sunny pleasantly spring weather on Sunday 25 August as paddlers manouvered down the steep slopes at Heidelberg bridge to launch in the Klip river – with relatively reasonable water levels despite no rain for months since winter onset.

19 K2’s, 3 x K3’s and 10 K1’s there was some good competition in the ranks and the winning pair were Under 23 Soweto crew – Zanenhlanhla Mbala and Sibusiso Chway, with MJ Robb and Brad Boulle a close second place as top finishing seniors – times were 1:54 / 1:55! Loveday Zondi was the first K1 finisher in 1:58 as first Sub Vet while Wongama Makhasi and Benjamin Mntonintshi (SOW) finished as the 2nd Under 23, Colin Ledwaba and Peter Chissano as 3rd Under in 1:59 and 2:02 respectively.

The first of the K3 finishers brought in Grant Thiel, Kevin Holmes and Mark Handley in 2:11 and Richard Cele with Marrene McDuling were the first mixed Double, Jason Brown with Kirsty Pott were first Vets, Sylvia Nel with Warren Ziervogel were first K2 Sub Masters. Grand masters prefer to paddle in K1’s it would seem so we did not find them in the K2 race results!

The results were sent out on GPKayak for comment and feedback as it was a first time manual effort with much tweaking needed to be done to overcome misunderstandings – they can also be found on the GCU Website for your feedback/comment/advice and assistance!!!
