THE ORANGE DESCENT – UPINGTON TO KAKAMAS – 29 – 30 APRIL 2016

This opportunity to race on the Orange river is a fabulous experience thoroughly enjoyable…..

A group of us enjoyed it in 2014 when it was 100km over 3 days called the Green Kalahari …..Now its the ORANGE DESCENT and only 2 days / 73kms…..such historic and inspiring towns in the Northern Cape, so much sightseeing and such a great family holiday while the river scenery is truly beautiful…..the ORANGE RIVER is the only river with inhabited islands in South Africa, easy reach to visit the Augrabies Falls after you finish in Kakamas….or Riemvasmaak, the first successful land reclamation finalised in 1996….with moonscape type landscape….hotsprings, Cape Cobra, check out the statue of the Camel Mounted Police force in Upington, and the water irrigation canals and local windmills threshing the water to the grape farms for export quality Safari raisins and sultanas….. and experience the enormously enjoyable local indigenous population and hospitality…..
