THE DABULAMANZI TWO DAY LIEBENBERGSVLEI PRE-FISH EXTRAVAGANZA*

20 & 21 SEPTEMBER 2014 – 3 WEEKS BEFORE FISH

After much discussion with the Maluti Paddlers – a hardy bunch of winter
resistant lads and lasses from Bethlehem – it has been decided that for the
purpose of this race – FUN – EXCITEMENT – SAFETY – RAPIDS – MORE FUN – we will paddle from the Reitz Water Works to Pieter Potgieter’s Farm. *Have a

Waterworks Start : 27°41’34.72″S, 28°22’31.67″E
Tweeling Heilbron Bridge (old GCU Mixed Doubles finish – seconding spot)
27°31’50.76″S, 28°28’32.28″E

Pieter Potgieter Finish : 27°30’33.92″S, 28°29’3.89″E

From here you can decipher much of what is in stall
We do not have exact distances at this stage, but it should fall within the
30 – 35km range – on fast flowing pollution free water!!

DO NOT LET THE DISTANCE DAUNT YOU – THIS RIVER FLOWS WITH INTENT AND CUTS YOUR PADDLING TIME DOWN!

The Route incorporates the old GCU Mixed Doubles Course – plus more!

The River is *K1, K2* and *K3* *Friendly!! *

The usual safety rules apply – this is a GCU Event –

*No Life Jacket + No Splashy + No Flotation in Boat = No Paddle *

POINTS FOR RIVER GRADING

This is a 2 day, *2 x B-Grade points* Weekend – Cash in on your 2 points!!!

THE COST

THE TIME

Racing will commence on *both days at 10am*. Ample time for travelers from
Gautz to get there on time.

AS A GUIDELINE – Please give yourself *2 and a half Hours* to get to the
*Start* if you are travelling from Dabulamanzi Canoe Club. Times will vary
depending on where you are driving from and the weight of your right foot.

RACE DIRECTIONS AND A MAP WILL BE POSTED IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS – DO NOT
DESPAIR!!!

ACCOMODATION

Pieter Potgieter is still offering limited accommodation. Both days end at
his plaas and he is offering cheap braai packs and a spot to crash on
Friday and Saturday night. Saturday Night has a predicted Shin Dig – so
order your braai pack to avoid a “Skilpad Braai” – *min vleis en baie
dop…*
