Message from Malcolm Stothard on Vaal:
Vaal is Gautengs oldest race. It is much easier now, than it has been in the past. Day two has got some awesome rapids and its two great days river training that you wouldn’t do at home. If you doing Dusi, its a must do race to get your distance training in. Dusi will definitely be low as all the dams in KZN are at desperate levels. Martin has organised a release so you will be able to get through without much hassle.
It is also SA K2 river champs so come and join the big guns on the river.
The finish venues on both days are great for families, they have food and a bar, and the kids can swim in the pools or the river.
PLEASE SUPPORT MARTIN and JCC and come and do the race!
ENTRIES CLOSE MONDAY 7 NOVEMBER AT 17:00. AFTER THAT R100 LATE ENRTY FEE PER PADDLER. Entry fee is payable at the start, but no payment no race. If your payment is not done you will not be allowed on the water.
Carry on praying, doing your rain dances or washing your cars, we need the Barrage to fill up even more than it already has.
Saturday 12 November, Day 1 will start off at our new venue, Cote De Val River Lifestyle Estate and will end at Smilin Thru Resort 37km downstream, and there will once again be some entertainment there.

Smilin Thru have also informed us that if you do stay with them in one of the chalets, use the word “Canoe” in the Notes section of the booking and you will receive a 25% discount. Boerie rolls and other food will be on sale at the finish as well as some ice cold beers. (SEE PREVIOUS MAIL FOR PRICES)
