One of the perks of being Marathon Convener is that I get to announce the Gauteng Team – and this is one of those ‘oh happy days’.
The paddlers below have been selected to represent Gauteng at the South African K2 Championships on the Fish River. Congratulations! You have the support of the entire Union. Go and have your best race ever.
There are a couple of points I need to make and, as usual, it starts with the calendar.
Our 2nd trial was specularly late which, in turn, created some problems. It was impossible to confirm with everyone in time. If you’re selected, but not going to Fish, please contact me – or the GCU office. Also note that your points towards colours are only awarded if you go and complete the race. i.e it is for participation and not just for selection. If you have been selected, are going, but have since changed partners, we also need to know.
The wise heads of Pete and Mike – and thanks to both – looked carefully at both trials. As you know, one trial was in a river and one trial was on flat. For obvious reasons, the river trial carried greater weight.
