ST DAVIDS MARIST PREP AND HIGH ACHIEVE TOP RANKINGS AT THE SA SCHOOLS / SA SPRINTS – REPORT THANKS TO JODIE
The annual national sprint regatta took place at Shongweni Dam in KZN took place over 24 – 27 April weekend 2021….
Huge congratulations and thanks to the event organisers for an exceptionally well run regatta.
The 2021 regatta was the 26th national sprint champs with 3 days of sprinting at the SA Schools and SA Sprint Championships well attended by paddlers from across the country. Most of the age groups having to hold heats, semi finals before competing in finals – there was an abundance of exceptionally close and exciting racing.
The event also doubles as the selection event for the junior and U23 world championships as well as the Olympic Hopes regatta. The teams will be announced in the next few weeks.

Here are some of the statistics:
Both High School and Prep School came top in their respective school rankings.
Prep School had 11 boys.
High School boys 6 boys.
Each boy earned valuable points for their individual rankings and school team.
Of the 17 boys, 9 were medalists.
In total 36 podium medals.
